Camargo, July 13 .- The Deputy Prime Minister, Dolores Gorostiaga, said today that Senior Social Centre de Camargo is a center "rrence and well established" in Cantabria, with which the regional government has fulfilled its commitment to expand facilities.

Gorostiaga and the mayor of Camargo, Angel Duque, inaugurated this morning the renovation and expansion of the Senior Social Center, managed by the Cantabrian Institute, ffxiv gil, of Social Services (ICASS), Government of Cantabria, which has meant an investment of EUR 745 692 .

The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the number of partners and growing activities in the Social Centre for the Elderly made necessary extension, with which the Government meets the "compromise" that she acquired two years ago with users.

For its part, the mayor has given a rating, tera gold, of "ten" to this center, he said, is all the Camargue and one of the most important in terms of number of partners across Cantabria.

Building on existing patio on the east side of the building works have allowed to generate new spaces for different uses and activities, and various associations of the municipality.

It has provided the center, sto credits, of a large multi-purpose hall, a hall of communication with the space above and an upper floor with a multi-purpose hall for various activities also.

It has also been equipped with a large terrace on the top floor and direct communication with the apartments for the elderly run by the council and the ICASS.

The work has provided approximately 500 square feet more area per building, equipped with the most modern safety features, functionality, accessibility and self-protection, which now makes the total usable area is of little over 2,600 square meters.

Furthermore, it has taken the work to reform the heating and hot water from the center, which is equipped with new boilers that promote the proper use of energy and solar panels.

Built in 1994 by the Government of Spain, the center currently has 3133 members.

The event was attended by the Director General of Social Services, Maria Luisa Real, members of the municipal corporation and numerous partners and users of the Centre.
